NHS North East Essex monitors the performance of the services that it provides within the community. In addition, it monitors the services, which it commissions for patients from other organisations in hospital trusts and the East of England Ambulance Service, Essex Area. This process ensures that we monitor progress towards the targets set by the government and improve the health of people living in Essex. Please see link for the 2011Local Health Profiles for Essex, provided by the Department of Health. http://www.apho.org.uk/resource/view.aspx?QN=HP_RESULTS&GEOGRAPHY=22 NHS North East Essex produces a Corporate Report which summarises the current performance of the organisation in a number of key performance areas, including finance and performance against the key NHS Plan and National Service Framework targets. Clinical governance is a whole system approach involving all levels of a healthcare organisation, from 'Ward to Board'. Everyone in the organisation has a role to play in ensuring that the health services we provide are of the highest standards of safety and continually improving in quality. A healthcare service of good quality is defined by Professor Lord Darzi as safe (the primary aim is to do no harm to our patients), effective (patients benefit from treatments) and delivers a good experience for patients.
